Skills Matrix: Creating user categories
|
This article relates to the following pro-Forms modules: |
A user category is a group of people who need the same skills, such as "Domestic Gas Engineer" or "Office Staff". Setting one up has three parts: create the category, build its structure of headings and skills, and add the people.
Creating a user category
1. Click New category.
2. Enter a name and description.
3. Under Start from, choose Blank category, or choose a template to start with a ready-made set of headings and skills (for example Electrician or Gas Engineer). Any skills the template needs are added to your library automatically.
4. Click Save.
Building the structure
Choose the category from the category list, then open the Structure tab.
- Add heading: adds a heading to group skills.
- Add skill: adds a skill or accreditation from your library. Tick Required for this category if everyone in the category must hold it, and choose the minimum level if the skill has levels.
- Move: moves a heading or skill under a different heading.
- Remove: removes a heading or skill from the category. When removing a heading you can keep its contents (they move up a level) or remove everything under it.
Removing a skill from a category does not delete anyone's records.
Adding people to a category
1. Choose the category.
2. Open the Members tab.
3. Use Filter users to find people, and switch them on to add them to the category, or off to remove them.
