pro-Forms Android Application closing in the Background
If you are experiencing frequent closures of pro-Forms when it is put into the background, this article attempts to explain why and how to overcome it.
pro-Forms closes in the background because your phone's battery optimization or aggressive RAM management forces it to stop to save power.
Change Battery Optimization Settings
Your phone restricts background processes by default to save battery life. You can change this for specific apps.
- Open your phone Settings.
- Go to Apps and select pro-Forms
- Tap Battery or App battery usage
- Change the setting from Optimized to Unrestricted.
Turn Off Manufacturer-Specific Battery Management
Many phone brands add their own battery-saving tools on top of Android's own settings, and these can override the setting above. If pro-Forms still closes after setting it to Unrestricted, check the steps for your phone brand below.
Samsung
- Open Settings and go to Apps
- Select pro-Forms, then tap Battery
- Set Background usage limits to unrestricted (not "Put app to sleep" or "Deep sleep")
- Also check Settings > Battery and device care > Background usage limits and remove pro-Forms from any Sleeping apps or Deep sleeping apps list
Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO (MIUI)
- Open Settings and go to Apps > Manage apps
- Select pro-Forms
- Turn on Autostart
- Tap Battery saver and set it to No restrictions
Huawei and Honor
- Open Settings and go to Apps, then select pro-Forms and tap Battery
- Set App launch to Manage manually and turn on Auto-launch, Secondary launch, and Run in background
- Add pro-Forms to Protected apps in Phone Manager if available
Oppo, OnePlus and Realme
- Open Settings and go to Battery > App Battery Management
- Select pro-Forms and set it to Allow background activity
- Add pro-Forms to the Startup Manager or Auto-launch list
Additional Steps If pro-Forms Still Closes
- Restart your phone. This clears temporary memory and can resolve background closures caused by low RAM.
- Update pro-Forms to the latest version from the Play Store, as updates often include background stability improvements.
- Check available storage. A nearly-full phone is more likely to close background apps to free up space.
- Turn off Adaptive Battery (Settings > Battery > Adaptive Battery), as this feature learns your usage patterns and can still restrict apps it predicts you won't open soon, even after you've excluded them elsewhere.
- Avoid third-party "cleaner" or "booster" apps, as these frequently force-close background apps including pro-Forms.
