Every form you build asks people to answer the same handful of questions over and over — but if each answer has to be typed out by hand, you're leaving the door open to typos, inconsistent wording, and answers that are hard to report on later. Choice Lists solve this by giving you a ready-made set of answers to choose from, so the person filling in the form picks a response instead of writing one from scratch.
Beyond speeding up form completion, Choice Lists keep your data clean and consistent. When "Pass," "PASS," and "passed" all mean the same thing but are recorded three different ways, reporting becomes a guessing game. A Choice List means every submission uses exactly the same wording, so your dashboards, exports, and searches actually line up.
Choice Lists aren't just for simple dropdowns, either. You can reuse the same list across multiple forms and questions, so once you've built a list of fault types, job statuses, or inspection outcomes, every team can pull from it rather than recreating it. And because certain answers can be flagged as needing attention - with the option to raise a quote or job directly from that flagged response - Choice Lists can turn a single form answer into the first step of a workflow, not just a data point.
Using the 'Advanced' view of a Choice List allows you to take your layouts to the next level. By specifying a background and text colour to each of the answers, you can automatically colourize your layouts making non-compliant items stand out without having to specify individual conditions.
