Autumn already?
How on earth did the summer go so fast - those long warm evenings, parched brown lawns, being scared to water the plants for fear of upsetting the neighbours and living in shorts. All in all, a prolonged and welcome period.
In many senses, moving between seasons is a reflection on business and how after one sustained period of activity the business needs to evolve and rejuvenate into something different, never staying the same for too long without a change.
This is certainly something we have come to recognise and accept and almost now, welcome as necessary.
Just as with say Winter to Spring, it's an opportunity for renewal, a fresh start, new growth and a refreshed landscape.
So, why am I waffling on about the seasons?
Probably because over the cosy, relaxed summer that seemed to last for ever, I forgot to think ahead and start to ponder on the Autumn months - a period in which we usually take time reflect on the year and all that has gone well and things that have not gone quite as planned. However, I was given a timely kick in the pants during our family holiday when I picked up and started to read my annual 'holiday book' - this year an excellent purchase from Amazon a few days before we left home.
I will talk about the book in more depth in a future blog post, but suffice it to say, I can't remember reading a book that had instant impact and felt like to author was talking directly to me - yes, directly at me and saying 'wake up mate, get a grip'.
Buzzing, out came the old note book and ideas to discuss when I got back just poured onto the page.
What a purchase, what a read and what a timely reminder that Autumn is actually a great time for looking forward, planning renewal and not feeling sad that Summer was over and the shorts had to be packed away.
Energised and ready for change!
